Sketchbook diaries #1

I have been feeling stuck in my art. Questioning what my style is, what I want to paint. Wondering if I’m too influenced by social media. If I am good enough. I was ruminating a lot.

What always helps me is going back to my sketchbook and ask myself WHY. Why do you create art? To me the answer is simple. Because it always makes me feel better. If I pick up a pencil or a brush - that day turns out better for me and everyone around me.

I have been going back to the landscape and gouache to explore what it might mean for my abstract work. I have been having a lot of fun. This is some of the sketches from the last week or so.

I am trying to fill out all my sketchbooks before I buy new ones. I am quite excited about spending more than 10 minutes on each painting in my sketchbook. I feel something else is evolving. Excited to see where this is headed.

Thank you!
